Best Hiking Gear on Amazon

Whether you’re a beginner hiker or an experienced trail junkie, Amazon is your one-stop-shop. You can get some of the biggest names in hiking, like Osprey and Columbia, delivered straight to your door – no human contact necessary! Here are some of my favorite picks from Amazon’s hiking gear.

Osprey Tempest/Talon Backpack

The single most important piece of hiking gear is a quality backpack. Your pack will hold all your essential hiking gear, so it’s important to find a durable, lightweight solution.

The Osprey Tempest 20 for women or Osprey Talon 22 for men is my favorite day hiking pack. With multiple pockets, a zippered hip belt, and an external sleeve for a hydration bladder, this is one of the most practical hiking bags I’ve owned. But by far the best feature of these Osprey packs are the fully adjustable straps and the mesh back panel. When properly adjusted, this pack is lightweight and breathable, making for a much more enjoyable hike.

Osprey Hydraulics Reservoir

The Osprey Hydraulics Reservoir is tailored for Osprey packs (although it will fit just fine in other packs too). The reservoir comes in two sizes – 2 liters or 3 liters. I recommend the 3L option as it’s better for longer, hotter hikes (you can always underfill the reservoir for shorter hikes!).

The hose has a bite-activated drinking spout with an on/off switch to stop water flow. I find this spout more leak proof than others like Camelbak. But by far my favorite feature of the Osprey Hydraulics Reservoir is the magnetic clip for the hose. Your drinking hose can easily clip on and off your backpack, keeping it secure while you’re hiking.

Columbia Newton Ridge Plus Hiking Boots

There’s a reason this hiking boot is the best selling women’s hiking boot on Amazon. The Columbia Newton Ridge Plus is waterproof, adjustable, and provides great tread. Did I mention how durable these boots are? I bought my first pair of the Columbia Newton Ridge in early 2017. After nearly 1,000 miles, I just replaced them with the exact same pair.

If you’re looking for a sturdy, durable pair of women’s hiking boots, the Columbia Newton Ridge can’t be beat – they are only $80! You won’t find a better quality boot at a lower price.

Black Diamond Spot Headlamp

I’ll be the first to admit, I used to think headlamps were ridiculous. I didn’t understand how a silly light on your head was that much more practical than a flashlight. And then I went night hiking in Bryce Canyon National Park

Headlamps are an absolute necessity for hiking after dark. The Black Diamond Spot Headlamp is lightweight and long-lasting. With the click of a button, you can change the light strength, dim, or strobe the light. I always recommend headlamps with a physical button instead of a touchpad – they are easier to operate!

This headlamp also has a red light option, perfect for night sky photographers or stargazers!

Best Camping Gear on Amazon

Amazon’s camping gear selection is huge, with some of the biggest camping brands like Coleman and Stanley. Here’s some of my favorite camping gear on Amazon.

Coleman Triton 2 Burner Propane Stove

If you’re looking for a budget propane stove to take on your next car camping trip, look no further than the Coleman Triton stove. This stove is perfect for both solo campers and families, with 2 burners that fit standard camping pots and pans. Each burner is separately controlled and heat-adjustable.

The Coleman Triton stove comes with side panels to block wind and keep your stove lit. You can also separately purchase a Coleman griddle to step up your camp cooking game.

Stanley Base Camp Cookset

The durable, stainless steel Stanley Base Camp Cookset is perfect for families or groups. For only $80, this set includes:

  • 3.5L pot with a vented lid
  • 7” frying pan
  • Cutting board
  • Spatula
  • Serving spoon
  • 4 plates
  • 4 bowls
  • 4 sporks (my favorite camping utensil!)
  • Dish drying rack
  • Heat-resistant trivet (I’ve always called this a pot holder/stand)
  • And a bungee cable to keep it all secured

And the best part? Every single one of these items nests together for compact storage on your camping trip. Plus, all Stanley products come with a lifetime warranty.

If you’re looking for a cook set for solo or couple camping trips, consider the Stanley Adventure Cookset. This stainless steel set includes a kettle and 2 ceramic tumblers.

Best Backpacking Gear on Amazon

When I first started researching backpacking gear, it was overwhelming. There were so many options! But after extensive research, I bought some of the best and highly recommended backpacking products out there. I ended up ordering a lot of my gear from Amazon, including my Osprey pack and Jetboil stove. Here are all my favorite picks from Amazon’s backpacking gear.

Osprey Aura/Atmos AG 65 Pack

Osprey makes the best hiking packs out there. Both my day hiking and backpacking packs are from Osprey. The Osprey Aura AG 65 for women or the Osprey Atmos AG 65 for men boast superior suspension. Better suspension means your pack will feel lighter and more comfortable.

Both packs are fully adjustable, with shoulder, hip, and chest straps. The packs also have a separate, easily accessible sleeve for 3L hydration reservoirs. Going on a shorter trip? You can remove the top part of the pack to carry less weight.

Osprey packs are durable and come with smart features, like trekking pole storage and sleeping bag compartments.

Sawyer Squeeze Water Filter

Water filtration is essential to your survival on backcountry camping trips. If you’re hiking for longer than one night, you will need to carry a filtration tool to refill your water supply. In fact, I recommend you even carry a water filtration device on short day hikes in case of emergency.

The Sawyer Squeeze Water Filter is compact, easy to use, and most importantly, effective. You can filter water into the provided pouches, into your water bottle or reservoir, or inline on your water reservoir hose.

Therm-a-Rest Z Seat

Backpacking doesn’t afford you the luxury of a big, comfy camp chair. But that doesn’t mean you have to sit on the cold, hard ground. The Therm-a-Rest Z Seat is the perfect, compact seat cushion to take on backpacking trips. It’s lightweight and easily fits on the outside of your pack.

The Therm-a-Rest Z Seat also provides radiant heat, keeping you warmer than if you were sitting directly on the ground. This cushion is also versatile, making a good option for bleachers or concerts too! The best part? It doesn’t break the bank… this cushion is only $15.

Jetboil Flash Stove

If you’re a backpacker who predominantly eats dehydrated food, the Jetboil Flash Stove is the best stove for you. The Flash brings water to a boil in only 100 seconds. This stove is lightweight and comes with a measuring cup/bowl.

The Jetboil is quick to set up and light with a push-to-ignite button. Jetboil also offers accessories to enhance your Jetboil Flash, like the coffee press, pot holder, skillet, and utensils.

Final Thoughts on the Best Outdoor Products on Amazon

Amazon is one of the best places to buy outdoor gear because they have a huge selection of big, reliable brands. And 2-day shipping makes that even better!
